Welcome to the Town of Spring Green. The Town of Spring Green was first established in 1850. The town is said to be named by a Mrs. Turner, who noticed that patches of vegetation on the south facing hollows, greened up early in the spring.
The Town of Spring Green is located in southwestern Sauk County, with the Wisconsin River forming its southern boundary. The river is a dominant feature in the town with the southern 2/3 lying within the Wisconsin River valley. With the backwaters of the Wisconsin River across the large Spring Green Valley this area contains the majority of agricultural and residential activity in the town. The northern 1/3 of the town consists of hills and hollows of the 'Driftless Area', accented by a dramatic valley wall rising above the Wisconsin River. With the limestone outcropping, contour agriculture and dairy farming this area typifies rural southwestern Wisconsin.
Together with the Village of Spring Green, the town is a growing tourist destination. With the Wisconsin River, agri-tourism and a growing artist community, the close proximity to Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin, American Players Theater, Tower Hill State Park and the House on the Rock, there is much to enjoy.
As people experience the beauty and sense of community that the Town of Spring Green has to offer, more people are choosing to live here. The town has seen steady growth over the past few decades. Only 30 miles west of Madison, more people are choosing to commute. Through it all, the Town of Spring Green has remained a wonderful place to live.
Town Hall located at E4411 Kennedy Rd in Spring Green, WI.
